Weird church songs

Aren’t the songs we used to sing in church so weird?
Remember the “gospel chariots go rolling along”?

“If the devils in the way we will ROLL right over him”

Wow, is that all it takes to defeat the devil?
Okay kids, if you see the devil coming at you with his demons just roll your hands like this and you walk right over him!
I bet that is exactly what Jesus will do when he returns.
We will look up to the sky and see Jesus saying, “ Watch out Lucifer! Here I come!” rolling his hands and walking very purposefully straight toward the old devil.

Then there is the classic line:
”sit on a tack, OH, sit on a tack”
Like, here devil… this is YOUR seat (giggling).

Kids really like that song so I get why we sing it… but some of our adult songs are pretty weird, too, and we don’t have near the excuse the kids do.
“Crown him with many crowns” How many heads does he have? I mean, does he really need that many crowns? It seems a useless gift if there are SO many crowns..... maybe we should save some of the money we were going to spend on the “many” crowns and just get him ONE really nice crown and then have the money to get him a scepter, too...... I don't know......it's a process.
